Your guests showed up, the music is playing, and the vibes are right. But how do you take a good party and make it legendary? You turn it into a game.

🎉 Introducing Play Mode

Play Mode is our newest feature that transforms any Party Post room into an interactive competition. Whether you're hosting a birthday party, a corporate team-building event, or a casual night out with friends, Play Mode gives everyone something to rally around.

Here's the idea: the host creates photo and video challenges, guests compete to complete them, and a live leaderboard tracks who's winning. It's part scavenger hunt, part photo contest, and part crowd-sourced entertainment.

🎉 1. Run a Photo Scavenger Hunt at Any Event

Scavenger hunts work at every type of gathering because they get people moving, talking, and exploring. With Play Mode, you create challenges like "Find something blue" or "Take a selfie with the DJ" and guests submit their photo proof directly through the app.

Why it works: It breaks the ice. Even guests who don't know each other start competing, collaborating, and laughing together. The leaderboard adds just enough pressure to keep people engaged without making it stressful.

Best for: House parties, corporate events, weddings, bar nights

🎉 2. Use Team Mode for Group Competitions

When you enable team mode, guests are split into groups and compete collectively. Each submission earns points for the team, and the crowd can react with emojis to boost scores.

This is where things get interesting. Team competitions create instant camaraderie. Strangers become allies, and the energy in the room shifts from "I'm at a party" to "We need to win this."

Pro tip: Use auto-assign to randomly sort guests into teams. It forces people to collaborate with someone they might not have talked to otherwise.

Best for: Corporate team building, bachelor/bachelorette parties, large events

🎉 3. Cast the Leaderboard to a Big Screen

One of the most underrated features of Play Mode is cast mode. Open the cast URL on a TV or projector and the leaderboard updates in real time. When guests see their team climbing the ranks or their name at the top, the competitive energy multiplies.

We've seen bars use this during Friday night events. The leaderboard goes up on one TV while the game or music plays on another. Guests start cheering for each other's submissions. It completely changes the atmosphere.

Best for: Bars, nightlife venues, watch parties, any event with a screen

🎉 4. Import a Challenge Pack in 30 Seconds

Don't want to write your own challenges? We've built 25 themed challenge packs into the app, from "Wedding Reception Games" to "Bar Night Battles" to "Corporate Ice Breakers." Each pack contains 10-20 challenges that are ready to go.

Just select a pack, import it, and start the game. If you want to customize, you can edit, add, or remove individual challenges even after the game has started.

For something completely unique, describe your event to our AI generator and it will create a custom challenge pack tailored to your specific occasion. "A 30th birthday party at a bowling alley" produces very different challenges than "a company holiday party at a rooftop bar."

Best for: Hosts who want instant setup, first-time users, events with specific themes

🎉 5. Keep It Going After the Event

When the game ends, Play Mode automatically calculates final scores and determines the winner. This data is included in the event recap email that gets sent to all participants.

Imagine getting an email the morning after a party that says "Your team finished 2nd out of 5 with 847 points. You completed 12 out of 15 challenges. MVP: Sarah with 320 individual points." It's a conversation starter, a shared memory, and a reason to come back for the next one.

Best for: Any event where you want guests to remember the experience

🎉 How to Get Started

Play Mode is available on all plans. Here's how to set it up:

  1. 🎈Create a room (or edit an existing one)
  2. 🎈Enable the Play Mode toggle in room settings
  3. 🎈Choose individual or team mode
  4. 🎈Import a challenge pack or create your own
  5. 🎈Start the game when your guests arrive

The free plan includes up to 5 challenges and 2 teams. Pro unlocks unlimited challenges and 5 teams. Premium gives you unlimited everything plus AI challenge generation.

🎉 The Bottom Line

Play Mode isn't about replacing the party. It's about giving people a reason to participate, a framework for interaction, and a shared experience to remember. The photos, reactions, and scores all become part of the story your guests tell afterward.
